Prodrooms and Sessionwire
A collaboration app with video, chat and audio sharing between studios.
What Sessionwire is for
Sessionwire connects two studios with video, chat and high-quality audio so a remote producer, artist or mix engineer can be present in the session and hear what is being worked on. It is built around the conversation between the rooms, with the DAW staying where it is.
The shape of the two
| Sessionwire | Prodrooms | |
|---|---|---|
| The picture | Camera video of the people. | The DAW itself, live, at the frame rate the host's GPU allows. |
| Control | The host works the DAW; others listen and talk. | Guests can take a turn at the controls, one at a time, with the host always able to take them back. |
| Sound | High-quality audio between the rooms. | The DAW's own audio in the stream, plus voice. |
| The other end installs | The app. | Nothing. Guests join in a browser. |
| Format | Two studios, or a small group. | A room: a few people around one project, or a listed room anyone can walk into for a turn. |
| Built for | Remote presence between professionals. | Sessions where people reach in: feedback rooms, open mics, lessons, beat battles. |
Prices, limits and features on the other side change without telling us; check them on that product's own site. Nothing here is a score.
Where Prodrooms fits. Prodrooms fits when people want to touch the project, not only hear it, and when guests should need nothing but a link.
Where Sessionwire fits. Sessionwire fits when two studios want to be present with each other over video and studio audio while one side does the work.
