Prodrooms and Parsec with Audiomovers
Remote desktop streaming, with a separate tool for the audio.
What Parsec with Audiomovers is for
Parsec streams a whole computer to someone else and lets them use it like their own, and it is very good at that. Audio for music work usually rides beside it on a second tool such as Audiomovers, so the sound reaches the other end at the quality a session needs. The pairing is a remote studio: one person at the controls, one machine shared.
The shape of the two
| Parsec with Audiomovers | Prodrooms | |
|---|---|---|
| What is shared | The whole desktop, or a display. | The DAW window alone. Nothing outside it is captured or reachable. |
| Who can act | One remote user at a time holds the machine. | A room of people take turns at the host's real mouse and keyboard; the host takes it back with one key, and a stop returns everything at once. |
| Sound | A second product for studio-grade audio. | The DAW's own audio, alone, in the same stream; the room hears the project, not the host's system sounds. |
| The other end installs | The Parsec client, and the audio tool. | Nothing. Guests join in a browser. |
| Where people find each other | You bring your own people. | A board of live rooms, schedules, crews and profiles; the room is on prodrooms.com. |
| Built for | Any software on any machine. | Music, in the DAW, with the etiquette a session needs: hands, turns, the door. |
Prices, limits and features on the other side change without telling us; check them on that product's own site. Nothing here is a score.
Where Prodrooms fits. Prodrooms fits when the point is the session: a producer at the DAW and people who want to reach in for a turn, hear the project and talk about it, without installing anything.
Where Parsec with Audiomovers fits. Parsec fits when one person needs a whole remote computer, for any software, with the desktop and every app on it.
